Ten rules for safe Internet use for children (guidelines for parents)
Child safety on the network, it is important to always provide, no matter for what purpose they use the Internet: to search information, design school projects, games or conversation with friends. Before you enable your children to go online without Your supervision, make together with them the rules they must adhere to. If You don't know where to start, we offer you to familiarize yourself with the following tips that will help You teach children the principles of safe work in the Internet (detailed safety tips children of different ages see tp://www.microsoft.com/support/protect/athome/children/default.mspx) :
Explain to the children and set clear rules — what sites they should not visit.
Help the children to select the correct login name and password, if it is necessary for children's communication through instant messaging or online games. Make sure that they do not contain any personal information.
Explain to Your children the need to protect their privacy on the Internet. Insist that they never gave out your address, telephone number or other personal information; for example, a study place or favorite place for walks.
Explain to the children that people online are not always who they claim to be. Do not allow children to meet personally with their "friends" on the Internet without Your supervision.
Teach children to trust their instincts. If anything the Internet will cause them psychological discomfort, have the children tell You about it.
Teach children to respect others on the Internet. Make sure they know that the rules of good behavior are everywhere — even in the virtual world.
